What was that time like?

Vincenzo-We were doing covers when we first started out. During covid, I had plenty of time to learn all sorts of music from different bands and styles over the previous decades - let’s say Beatles up through AC/DC, Nirvana/Green Day to Foo Fighters, and everything in between. My best friend was my Strat, and I startedwriting originals that I thought would give our music a new perspective and opportunity once covid lifted. It was lonely but amazingly productive and transformative, so it helped me remain excited and optimistic for the future.

I’ve seen you not only playing locally, but also showing up and supporting the scene from the crowd. With “Punktoberfest” coming up on Friday, October 16th at Empire Underground, what does it mean to be part of such a tight-knit community that can put together a banger like this show?

It’s been an awesome opportunity over the last few years to be out there playing while at the same time being able to support and connect with fellow artists in the scene who have become more like family. When we reach out about a show to a band, if they can’t do it, they are willing to idea share on another band that can join the bill. It is like a mass collaboration that highlights acceptance and inclusiveness.

Being able to play Empire along with popular 518 bands likeAnthem For Tomorrow, Uncle Frank Says No!, The Kings of Nothing, and Surfsik all on the same bill will be an amazing show for all of us - and surely the crowd.

We have also been fortunate to have our VTH support team that helps us stay on track with booking, promotion, social media, shows, and music production. We’ve been playing Empire since the 11th grade and working with Mike and his team is always a great time and a learning experience. He always takes a moment to lend some wisdom from his years on both sides of the business.

When we reached out about our idea for Punktoberfest, he was supportive of the show from the start. He wants it to be successful -he wants to help it be bigger and better than the last show. That word ‘Support’ sums up our scene too. From top down, you see Metal bands at the Punk shows, Punk guys at the Metal shows- hell, the mix shows we’ve done have brought about some of the coolest friendships.

We were given the opportunity to play a couple Halfway to EMA shows over the last couple years with amazing bands like Phoenix & The Raven (now Monarch), Against the Reign, Outta My Head, and After the Winter, Tentacles, Confinement, Gozer, and The Hauntings. Here we are, pretty young guys on these gigs, and we made immediate connections. It is a great feeling to be out seeing these bands play, and a truly rewarding feeling to see them at ours.

It’s a great reminder to not forget where you came from, and we think that is what is special about our music community. Turn on the radio on a Sunday night, and you got an hour of WABY playing local tracks-that’s wild!!

Before “Punktoberfest”, you’re heading out on a Northeastrun supporting Tampa’s SWANYX. As you line-up to play Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia, and Boston, what are you looking forward to the most about this tour?

Again, starting out we learned that networking is a huge piece of being in the music scene. Working our way beyond the 518 and getting to know other bands in different regions gives us the opportunity to build new friendships and contacts, share our music with new areas, and play at venues that are cool with us young upstate New York guys going to play in their scene.

Whether it is at an underground venue, bar, tavern, or record store, everyone is very accepting and accommodating. We look at other bands from our area like Flatwounds, Halo Bite, State Champs, and Sirsy all out making some noise across the country, and around the world-that’s where we want to be! Your sound channels classic British punk with a modern spin and flourish.

What pulls you to that sound? Are there specific bands or eras that shape the way you write?

Vincenzo-It is hard to nail down a specific band, and we have been told that British Rock/Punk can be picked up in our songs, however that was not done on purpose. There are so many bands that have inspired me. The older stuff - I feel

The Sex Pistols, Misfits, Green Day, Stone Temple Pilots - are definitely in the mix, and The Beatles were an inspiration whose technical influence blended with everything else making that British sound stand out a little bit more.

There is talk of a new EP coming, what else can new listeners expect through the fall and winter?

Aside from Punktoberfest, we are working on a couple of more shows to wrap up the year, as well as putting together a compilation release of some of some re- records, demos, and covers. We are also working on new originals that is a step forward from our current sound, bringing a vast array of influences of bands whose style hasn’t been heard in our songs before.

Where’s the best place for fans to follow along with new music, shows, and announcements?

Vintri Hill _official on Instagram is definitely the main hub of our social interactions and announcements.
